why Outdoor Learning?

Outdoor play is essential for a balanced, healthy, and magical childhood. At Outdoor Explorers, we embrace the endless benefits of connecting with nature and the outdoors in each class.

Being outdoors builds confidence and resilience as children navigate various challenges and adapt to their environment. It encourages imagination, allowing young minds to dream and create without boundaries. Outdoor learning fosters teamwork, nurturing communication and problem-solving skills, while children collaborate on tasks and solve obstacles together. It also empowers children to safely manage their own risks, promoting independence and critical thinking. By encouraging children to bring their own ideas into play and embrace child-initiated learning, outdoor education becomes a fully inclusive experience for all children. It provides an opportunity for young children to test their ideas and concepts in a real-world setting, building self-esteem and pride in their achievements. Moreover, it gives little ones the space to learn the art of reflection, fostering a deeper connection with themselves and the world around them.

At Outdoor Explorers, we are committed to harnessing these transformative experiences, ensuring that every child benefits from the profound impact of outdoor play and learning.

FAQ

Our Little Ladybirds classes are are based at two sites.

Monday and Tuesday classes are at The Manor in Tur Langton, Leicestershire, LE8 0PJ.
Thursday and Friday classes are at Lamport Hall, Northampton, NN6 9HD

Both sites are very rural, but have good parking not far from where the classes take part. At both sites there are gorgeous cafes for you to fuel up before or after classes too.

When you book your place online please note the Starter Information document that is attached, this has a clear map to help you locate us.

For a standard toddler block-booking, each class is £8.50 for one child. Any siblings over 10 months old are just £5 per class. Siblings under 10 months are free of charge!

If you purchase an Annual or Half-Annual Subscriptions then each class is £7.95, this saves you over £25 per year and you have a lot less admin to do across the year too. Your space is simply transferred over each block. If you wish to change day or time during the year, this is absolutely not a problem either.

Flexi-Pass Tickets give you the freedom to come to whichever class suits you each week during the block that you are signed up to, and is usually half the number of classes per block. Given the flexibility of this pass they work out at £10 per class. These are super popular and usually sell out the fastest!

Baby Bugs and Family Explorers are PAYG, although you will need to book your space through our booking website, and payment is taken before the class.

Booking and payment is done through a booking website:

No, but Family Explorers is a great way to introduce yourselves to outdoor learning and how we run our classes at Outdoor Explorers. Family Explorers is a PAYG fun and engaging family class on the last Saturday of every month at The Manor in Tur Langton, for ages 1-8 years.

If there are any spaces left then absolutely! It is always worth dropping Alice an email to check availability part way through a block.

At The Manor there are public toilets situated near the courtyard, close to The Mint and Ginger Cafe. This is a couple of minutes walk from our site so always worth a try wee beforehand.

Similarly, there are toilets at Lamport Hall just outside of the main courtyard only a couple of minutes from our site.

Weather appropriate clothing.

Clothes that you don’t mind them or you getting dirty in.

In cold weather, lots of layers underneath a puddle suit or winter coat. Spare clothes in the car for the journey home if they have got damp or wet during play.
In the warmer months, sun hats, trainers (as opposed to summer sandals etc) and again spare clothes for the journey home.

Each child will also have their own high-vis jackets for over their coats. This not only works as a visual precaution so that we can keep tabs of where each child is exploring, but can also help protect clothing and coats from mud, dirt and paint that may be played with.

If you wish to cancel your place mid-block this will need to be put into writing for Alice at your nearest convience. A refund can then be arranged, although due to resourcing costs, a two week notice period is enforced.

Sessions will run come rain or shine.

The only exception to this will be if a weather warning has been advised. In such a case the session shall be rescheduled or refunded. Communications for this will be via emails and also through social media posts.
